Abstract:
 The energy storage device ( ESD) can be combined with the wind turbine to smooth its power variation,but too much storage capacity is needed for effects. In order to reduce the capacity of ESD,a coordinated smoothing control strategy of wind turbine and ESD was proposed. The low-pass supplementa-ry control with the cut-off frequency which is lower than the natural one of the wind turbine was added in-to the power control loop of the wind turbine,and the low-frequency components of wind power were sup-pressed by the inertia of wind turbine. The intermediate-frequency components are compensated by the ESD. As a result,the coordinated control of wind turbine and ESD smoothes a large range of frequency components of wind power,and the capacity of ESD is decreased effectively. The combined model with 2MW wind power system and 0. 3MW /0. 2MWh ESD was used to validate the strategy by the comparison research. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy takes better effects than the individual control.
